User has followed instructions, but is not able to map a drive to smb://the I: drive using:

Open File Explorer.

Right click on "This PC."

Click on Map Network Drive.

In the top box, choose I:

In the bottom box, paste whichever link below is appropriate to your situation.


PC: \\fileshares.louisville.edu/\data (I: Drive) or

Mac: smb://fileshares.louisville.edu/usr/<userID> (H: Drive)data

On occasion users will have to map to their drive share with the IP address instead of filesharesthese.louisville.edu.

Connecting with smb://:

PC: \\136.165.239.210/\data or smb://\\136.165.239.211/\data will resolve mapping to the I: drive.

PC: \\136.165.239.210\usr or \\136.165.239.211\usr will resolve mapping to the H: drive.Using

Mac: smb://136.165.239.210/data or smb://136.165.239.211 will work for the H/data will resolve mapping to the I: drive as well.

Additionally a Windows PC May Need to use AD if an error about GUEST connections appears

Have the user map to the H or I: Drive using AD\UserID (so that the mapping goes thru the AD domain).
