How To - Change Password Through Active Directory

It is recommended, where possible, that all password changes are completed at password.louisville.edu. However, they can be changed within Active Directory by following the steps below:

Passwords can be changed on Active Directory in 2 ways:

  • using <CTRL> <ALT> <DELETE> on the workstation that is logged into Active Directory
  • using Active Directory Users and Computers usually by REACH or a departmental Tier 1 Support Staff

The password is sent to OIM.  If it meets the requirements, OIM will send it to OID (server 1).  Then replication has to occur between server 1 and servers 2 and 3.  This may take a while.

Since PeopleSoft uses the LDAP load balancer, we can’t guarantee that PeopleSoft queries server 1, it could access server 2 or 3 where the password may not have been replicated yet.  Another few minutes should do the trick.
