Request a Listserv

Click the button to request to have a listserv created. Steps on how to request a listserv can be found below.

Click the “Request a Listserv” button, or go to: https://ulservices.refined.site/page/enterprise-services?createRequest=true&portalId=2&requestTypeId=91

If your list will contain only University email addresses, use a Microsoft 365 group instead, which provides more collaboration options.

You will be prompted to complete a form for your listserv request. Descriptions of each field are below:

  • Department: the name of the department requesting the listserv

  • Telephone number: the phone number of the person completing the form

  • User ID: the ULink user ID of the person completing the form

  • Email Address of Owner: the email address of the person who will own/manage the listserv

  • Check if Requesting for someone other than yourself: Select whether you are requesting this listserv for yourself or on behalf of someone else

  • Name of List: the name you want for your listserv. The name of your listserv cannot be more than 20 characters, and spaces are not allowed.

  • Description of List: Describe the purpose of your listserv (no more than 200 words)

  • List Owner Confirms Subscribers: Select if anyone can join the listserv or if users who want to subscribe to the listserv must be approved by the owner.

    • Select “No” if you want any user to be able to join the listserv.

    • Select “Yes” if you want to review all subscription requests. Subscribers must be approved by the listserv owner.

  • Send Messages to listserv: determine who can send messages to this list.

    • Anyone: any user at the University can send emails to the listserv

    • Only list members: only listserv subscribers can send emails to the listserv (also known as an “interactive” listserv)

    • Confirmed by List Owner: all emails sent to the listserv must be approved by the editor or owner of the listserv before they are sent to listserv subscribers (also known as a “moderated” listserv)

    • Only the List Owner: only the editor or owner of the listserv can send messages. Subscribers cannot reply to listserv emails (also known as an “announcement/broadcast” listserv)

  • How ListServ name published: select if you want the listserv to be published worldwide, local to the University, or unpublished

After you complete the form, you will receive a confirmation email when your listserv has been created.
