During an emergency, softphone and wireless VoIP technology may not provide the most timely or accurate location data if used for a 911 emergency call. Calls may be misdirected to the wrong emergency response center or there may be errors in determining the callers’ location.

Always use a wired handset for 911 calls, when possible.
