Disable 2-Step Verification in Gmail

Disable 2-Step Verification in Gmail

Issue:

User is unable to connect their Gmail account to their Outlook email client.

Solution:

2-Step (Multi-factor) authentication with Gmail provides an additional layer of security to your Gmail account. It is recommended that the 2-step verification be turned back on after adding the account to Outlook.

It may be necessary to turn off 2 step verification within Gmail first.

Turning off 2-Step Verification

  1. In “Signing in & security” section of My Account, select 2-Step Verification. Sign in with your username, password, and verification code if asked.
  2. Select Turn off 2-Step Verification.
  3. A pop-up window will appear to confirm that you want to turn off 2-Step Verification. Select Ok.
